Gum + painting = big bill.....
CNN.com - $1.5 million painting gets 12-year-old's gum - Mar 1, 2006
"He is only 12, and I don't think he understood the ramifications of what he did before it happened, but he certainly understands the severity of it now," said Kildee.
If it was a four year old, then I could see who the kid didn't understand the consequence of his actions. But my five and eight year olds both clearly understand that when they do things that they shouldn't, there are consequences for those things. At the same time, my kids also seem to have a sense of what they can and can't do - so there's a difference between coloring with markers and accidentally drawing on the table, for example, and purposely spilling their drink and then not telling anyone about it.
Am I the only one that finds it odd that the museum is basically writing it off as a stupid kid behavior? I'm sure that his parents are quite thankful that their name hasn't been dragged through the mud in the local papers, but we all know that the kids on his trip have already told their parents and anyone that will listen about it.
