Inconceivable!

The Princess Bride is one of the best movies ever made. Now available in both regular and special edition on DVD, it's a must have movie.

This was one of the first DVD's that I bought when I got my laptop (which has a DVDRom drive in it). I hadn't seen it in years, yet I could feel the quotes from the movie coming back to me as each scene came. "As you wish." "Inconceivable!!" "He's just mostly dead."

Today, :abby: wasn't interested in eating or sleeping, so I popped this classic into the laptop and started watching it with her. Sure, she's only 11 weeks old and won't remember any of it.... but if I start her young, then there's a good chance that she'll end up with my sense of humor - hopefully like the other two - so we can outnumber Jen when it comes time to watch movies!

The story line is so simple that it's your typical romantic movie: boy meets girl, falls in love, goes to make money to pay for a wedding, is reported dead at the hands of the Dread Pirate Roberts, girl is forced to marry the local monarch even though she still loves boy, boy comes and rescues girl while wearing a mask, girl pushes boy down a very steep embankment, boy reveals himself as he tumbles to the bottom same embankment, girl throws herself down the embankment to be with him again, the king catches them and pretends to be willing to let boy go if girl still marries him, boy is mostly killed, then Fezzik the giant and Inigo Montoya help boy defeat the king and win back the girl. Yeah, like I said, a typical movie :).

Featuring such Hollywood stars as: Cary Elwes, Mandy Patinkin, Chris Sarandon, Christopher Guest, Wallace Shawn, Andr the Giant, Fred Savage, Robin Wright, Peter Falk, Peter Cook, Mel Smith, Carol Kane, Billy Crystal.
