Parents killing kids...

According to Yahoo.com news....
Rusty Yates might be charged in the murders of his children. His wife is getting life in prison. He might be charged with child endangerment (Under Texas law, the charge of child endangerment requires that someone intentionally and knowingly place children in danger. It carries a maximum penalty of two years in jail.). I don't know about you, but that doesn't seem fair.

Now I'm not fully informed about the whole thing, but from what I understand, Rusty is claiming that his wife's doctors and insurance carriers failed her, and that's why she did what she did. Andrea, on the other hand, is defended by her family, who say that Rusty was told "that if his wife became pregnant with a fifth child she could sink into a severe postpartum depression" - and after an earlier pregnancy, she attempted suicide. They also "suggested that Rusty Yates was selfish and controlling and drove his wife to her insane act."

Now I will grant you that she probably needs some kind help, but if her husband knew this and got her pregnant anyway.... that's just irresponsible. Either way, it's an interesting case, and a horrible tragedy.

In another interesting twist: Yateskids.org is the website that Rusty has set up "to honor the memory of our children, Noah, John, Paul, Luke, and Mary, who died tragically on June 20, 2001." On the one hand, I'm sure it's nice for family/friends/anonymous internet people to visit, on the other hand, I get a bad feeling about it. Not sure why.....
